As Prince Harry prepares to marry American actress Meghan Markle in Windsor, Kabin boss Rita Sullivan and Liz McDonald brought a bit of reality to Weatherfield.

Revealing she was planning to dress for the occasion of watching the Royal nuptials, Rita told Liz and Gemma: “It’s a Royal Wedding.

“I can’t just sit there in my dressing gown and slippers, can I?

“It’s disrespectful.”

Then she gave fans a much needed history lesson of how the famous cobbles came to be renamed after another Royal Wedding.

Confirming it wasn’t renamed for Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation, though she did watch the event at the time.

She added: “The street was renamed after Edward VII’s coronation in 1903.”

Viewers were delighted with the information about the cobbles’ history.

One tweeted: “Nice history lesson on #Corrie. Didn’t know that about the name of the street.”
