BBC answers viewers’ prayers with Bodyguard and Line of Duty crossover

Fans are now desperate for a series!

Fans of smash-hit TV series Bodyguard have been getting their hopes up for a unique dramatic crossover with another critically acclaimed BBC drama, from the same makers.

The Beeb has shared an excellent mash-up of scenes featuring Bodyguard’s David Budd and Line of Duty’s Ted Hastings on social media, making it appear as if the two characters were sharing screen time.

“Wondering whodunnit in Bodyguard? Don’t worry, Line of Duty’s Ted Hastings is on the case,” the caption to the tweet sent from the BBC One account read.

And although the short clip broadly depicts Ted interviewing David, there is no serious hint at it being a preview of a forthcoming encounter between the roles played by Richard Madden and Adrian Dunbar in the two separates show written by Jed Mercurio.

“It’s the crossover we’ve been waiting for,” tweeted LipglossJill.

Echoing that thought, @SamTJohnston24 said: “The drama crossover that the world needs!”

“Haha I was only thinking this week wouldn’t it be great if Ted turned up to interview Gina McKee,” added @_BeatinRhythm.

But why stop at merging just two leading dramas? Why not add a third to the mix? Or even a fourth?

In that case, we’d be looking forward to an explanation for why Julia Montague and Lindsay Denton and Alex Drake all share such a strong resemblance…

But could a drama where Bodyguard and Line of Duty characters both exist actually happen?

Let’s wait and find out the answer to TV’s biggest cliffhanger and see whether Julia made it first.
