Brendan Cole seems to drop another hint he’s quitting Strictly

Fans fear the worst

| Updated:

Strictly fans have been concerned that show stalwart Brendan Cole is quitting the show following this series.

And an interview with It Takes Two has done nothing to put these rumours to bed as he gave an emotional overview of his 15 series on the show.

The dancer won the first ever Strictly Come Dancing with partner Natasha Kaplinsky.

“The elation of winning was spectacular,” he revealed in the video montage.

After talking about Kelly Brook, who he said could have “gone all the way” had she not withdrawn from the competition following the sad death of her father, he also said Lisa Snowdon was a brilliant partner.

Partnered with Sophie Ellis Bextor in series 11, Brendan said: “I loved that series from start to finish, every single dance we did, when we walked off the floor I remember thinking ‘that was amazing’.”

As the video of Brendan’s Strictly CV began to come to an end, he got all nostalgic about series past.

“15 series of Strictly Come Dancing, it’s been euphoric, it’s been tough, it is my life and I’m very, very proud to have been a part of every single second of it.”

It’s a lovely sentiment, but fans of the show firmly believed it was very much a goodbye message.

Brendan first sparked rumours he was quitting when he was eliminated from the current series alongside partner Charlotte Hawkins.

He’d spent much of the series clashing with new head judge Shirley Ballas and in his emotional speech after the vote was cast, he said:

“Not often you stand here with such sadness and go ‘I’m going to miss this and I’m going to miss hanging out with this girl’. I’m going to miss dancing with her, I’ve had one of the best Strictlys in 15 years and it’s hard for me to even say that and I feel really emotional.”

Fans immediately thought this was his farewell speech and called for him not to quit.

Clearing things up on Good Morning Britain, he explained he had meant he was going to miss dancing with Charlotte as they’d had such a good time together.

Speaking about whether he’ll be back, he said: “Next year it depends on the BBC if they want me and what I am doing at the time.

“If I am ready and available and inspired to do it, I will come back – if the BBC want me.”
