Brian McFadden overcame a dislocated shoulder to delight Dancing On Ice fans with a confident opening routine.
The Westlife star, who was first to perform on tonight’s show, suffered the agonising injury during training.
It put his participation on the hit ITV talent show in jeopardy, but the singer showed no signs of pain as he received a solid score of 20 from the judges.
Viewers saw the moment Brian’s shoulder “popped” out of its socket as he rehearsed with professional partner Alex Murphy.
He clasped the joint and had to receive treatment from medics.
Speaking on the VT before his live routine, Brian said: “It’s so annoying with all the work I’ve put in possibly not to perform because of the injury.”

But after a successful performance to Westlife cover Mandy, he told hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby: “With my shoulder going out, it’s been tough.
“It’s probably in a different position to what it was at the start of the routine, but it’s still there,” he reassured viewers.
Ashley Banjo, Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean all awarded 5.5, with Jason Gardiner giving just 3.5 points.

Jason told Brian: “That came off looking like a couple that was slightly overdressed but hogging a general skate session.
“It needs to have more of the emotion.”
Most viewers, however, disagreed, with one tweeting: “For someone who couldn’t stand up on ice a few weeks ago…” followed by the thumbs-up emoji.

Before tonight’s show, ITV told DigitalSpy that the 38-year-old singer had partially dislocated his shoulder and damaged his rotator cuff, so had only limited training time.
