Britain’s Got Talent fans accuse Simon Cowell of wanting an act to DIE

Viewers air views on social media after Vardanyan Brothers perform

Britain’s Got Talent viewers have accused Simon Cowell of wanting someone to DIE on the show in the name of entertainment.

Fans hit out at the showrunner after he criticised sword-balancers the Vardanyan Brothers for not being dangerous enough.

The pair, from Armenia, wowed the judges at the auditions with a similar stunt.

Likewise, their act on tonight’s second live semi-final built up to the climax with one brother balancing on the head of the other and being carried down a set of stairs.

But Simon told them they should have “stepped up” for the live shows and added an extra element of risk.

He said:  “It’s an amazing act. But you know when you go for dinner, you don’t want the prawn cocktail, you want the main course.

“With me, I get the first part but I really want more of the knives.

“It was a great first audition but it needed to be more dangerous, actually. It’s stepping up for the live shows.

“The balancing on your heads is not as interesting.”

Viewers couldn’t believe his comments and took to Twitter to blast them.

One wrote: “How dangerous do you want it, Simon? You want someone to die?”

Another posted: “More dangerous? They have swords down their throats.”

But other BGT fans agreed with Simon, with one writing: “Simon is soooo right, they needed to  step it up.”

Meanwhile, David Walliams joked: “One thing could make this act better, and that’s two pairs of leather shorts.”

Alesha Dixon told the brothers: “I am in awe of what you do.”

Turning to Simon, she added: “You need a build-up. You can’t just go straight in to the main moment.”

Hosts Ant and Dec then revealed that the performers were carrying an injury from the rehearsals earlier in the day.
