Britain’s Got Talent returned on Saturday night and while many fans applauded Ant McPartlin’s long-awaited comeback to hosting – many others were left distracted by judge Alesha Dixon’s massive earring.
In the opening episode, 40-year-old BGT judge wore a huge triangle-shaped jewellery piece, that resembled the instrument less musically inclined pupils typically play at school.

And while Alesha certainly looked fabulous in her pink corset and Ariana Grande-style high ponytail, many viewers couldn’t help but poke fun at her bold earring choice on social media.
A fair few took to Twitter, with one writing: “Alesha’s earring choices this evening are just so distracting”, and another adding: “I know odd earrings are all the trend right now, and nothing against Alesha – but this triangle earring… looks like she’s got to run off to band practice after filming. Fashion Police.”

A third even joked that the instrument bought back memories of school life: “Alesha Dixon’s earring reminds me of my school days,” and a fourth quipped: “I used to play Alesha’s left earring at primary school.”

But the earring criticism didn’t stop there, in the 13th series premiere, as Alesah wore yet another huge solo earring later on.
Once again this drew some criticism, with one quipping that she must “keep losing one earring” and several others comparing it to a “coaster.”

Despite Alesha’s seemingly distracting jewellery, it was a strong opening episode for BGT.
Not only did viewers delight in Antand Dec finally reuniting, but the opening episode saw its first three acts get four yeses and judge David Walliams even used his golden buzzer to put a group of singing primary school kids through in the second episode.
