Bruce Willis’ daughter Rumer shares health update as actor continues to battle dementia

The family revealed his diagnosis in 2023

Bruce Willis’ daughter Rumer has given an update following her famous father’s dementia diagnosis.

In February 2023, the Willis family shared in a statement that the Hollywood superstar had been given a “clear diagnosis” of frontotemporal dementia. The statement added that “challenges with communication are just one symptom of the disease Bruce faces”.

A month later, in March 2023, Bruce was seen for the first time since his diagnosis, as he celebrated his birthday surrounded by his family. Clips shared on social media showed the retired film legend blowing out candles with his wife, ex-wife Demi Moore and daughters Rumer, Scout and Tallulah.

Now Rumer has appeared on Loose Women to share an update on her beloved dad.

Speaking via videolink today (February 30, Rumer spoke to Kaye Adams and Judi Love, who asked her about her famous parents, Bruce and Demi.

As well as sharing an insight into their family dynamic following Bruce and Demi’s divorce, Rumer also shared a health update on Bruce.

What is so beautiful is the way we rally around each other. We are a unit.

“He is doing great,” she shared when the Loose Women asked about Bruce. Rumer then shared: “We are all scared dealing with the fires and wanting to make sure everything is okay.”

Speaking about her family rallying round following the dementia diagnosis, Rumer said: “Because we’re all so close, what is so beautiful is the way we rally around each other. We are a unit.”

And she said that’s been the way since her parents’ divorce. “Even when they split up, they created such a beautiful prioritisation of my sisters and I.

“We were a family and still are. No matter what.”

She added: “Not only did that set me up in my life but as I am working through coparenting as well I have deep gratitude for that.”

Rumer, who is mum to 16-month-old daughter Lou, coparents the tot with ex-boyfriend Derek Richard Thomas.

Bruce Willis’ birthday celebrations with his family

Back in 2023, Demi shared a clip of Bruce’s nearest and dearest singing Happy Birthday to him. Bruce joined in at points during the song – and also enthusiastically blew out candles on a birthday pie.

However, at one point, Die Hard star Bruce did seem to stumble slightly.

Demi, who was married to the Pulp Fiction actor between 1987 and 2000, wrote in the caption of her post: “Happy birthday, BW! So glad we could celebrate you today. Love you and love our family. Thank you to everyone for the love and warm wishes — we all feel them.”

Bruce Willis’ wife Emma on her ‘grief’

The actor is now married to wife Emma – who shares two daughters born in 2012 and 2014 with Bruce.

She has previously shared how her strength is often praised by onlookers who tell her: “I don’t know how you do it.”

Emma has said: “I’m not given a choice. I wish I was. But I’m also raising two kids in this. So sometimes in our lives we have to put our big girl panties on and get to it. And that’s what I’m doing.”

She has also likened how she can feel about her husband’s condition to “grief”.

“I do have times of sadness every day. Grief every day,” she said.
