Casualty fans may have felt their heart rates go up and their spirits go down this week, as one of the show’s favourite cast members has hinted that they’ve left the show.
Actor George Rainsford, who plays Ethan Hardy, sparked speculation on Twitter when he posted a series of mysterious tweets, suggesting that he’s no longer filming on set.
And fans were quick to voice their sadness about his possibility departure.
George, 35, revealed to his 39,700 Twitter followers that he has left Cardiff – where Casualty is filmed.

He wrote: “Goodbye Cardiff! Until the next time. Also, I’m coming off Twitter for a bit. Not forever, but… I’ll see you again soon. Just don’t be offended if I don’t reply. Be kind to each other.”
In another tweet on the same day (Tuesday 20 March), George told a disappointed fan hoping to meet him at the studios: “I’m not here anymore sorry.”

In the newly released Casualty Spring trailer, Ethan’s storylines seem to take a dramatic turn as he’s seen kissing a woman – and it’s NOT his recent flame Alicia.
Meanwhile, Alicia is seen crying and burning important-looking papers… What could it all mean?
We also see consultant Ethan having a heated discussion with Connie Beauchamp, who has returned to Casualty after her cancer treatment.
She tells him: “We do not get involved in patient’s lives. That’s just not what we do here.”
Ethan angrily replied: “What do we do here?”
While Casualty have denied that George’s character Ethan is leaving, we have to agree with his Twitter fans and ask then why all the mystery…?
Care to clarify George?
Casualty continues on Saturday 24 March on BBC One at 8.20pm.
