CBB confirms first housemate for 2018 – and there’s an I’m A Celebrity connection!

Are they the new Kardashians?!

We just can’t seem to get rid of the Johnson family from our TV screens these days.

If it’s not Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson saying something outrageous, then it was his wonderfully lovable father Stanley on I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here.

Now it seems the TV bug has bitten another member of the Johnson family.

Rachel Johnson (sister of Boris, daughter of Stanley) has just been confirmed as the first female celebrity taking part in the new series of Celebrity Big Brother.

No stranger to the media, journalist Rachel confirmed the news in her Daily Mail column, writing:

“I’m going into the actual Big Brother House. For real. I know. Believe me, I know.”

“I am a firm believer that you only regret the things in life you don’t do, not the things you do do.”

The 52-year-old will be going into an all female house – something the show has never done before.

It marks 100 years since women won the right to vote, and will be called Celebrity Big Brother: Year Of The Woman.

There will be men taking part too, but they will just be introduced throughout the series.

Fans were quick to let the show know what they thought on social media;

Rachel’s dad, Stanley, only left the Australian jungle a few weeks ago, and when Rachel told her husband she was taking part, he jokingly asked, “Are the Johnsons the new Kardashians?”

According to Rachel there was also going to be a change of title.

“It was going to be called Big Sister (it’s ended up being called Celebrity Big Brother: Year Of The Woman), with a ‘classy’ all-female line-up for the launch.”

She revealed, “Female politicians, performance artists, broadcasters Serious stuff. Big names were duly dropped, and the emphasis on ’empowerment’ rather than ‘ritual humiliation’ promised.”

And with host Emma Willis leading the charge, could this be the return of Girl Power?

Find out on Tuesday 2nd January at 9pm on Channel 5
