It’s hard to picture daytime TV veteran Richard Madeley swearing, but apparently his daughter’s new husband brings it out in him.
Chloe Madeley appeared on Tuesday’s Loose Women, alongside her rugby star hubby, James Haskell, where she confirmed that her famous dad has finally bonded with his new son-in-law – but they’re still jokingly rude to each other.
The 31-year-old, who married the sports star in December, told panellists Ruth Langsford, Coleen Nolan, Nadia Sawalha and Jane Moore that she was keeping her surname for work as a “nice ode to my dad”.
James, 33, then revealed that Richard had tried to persuade him to take Chloe’s name saying: “He did try to make me become James Madeley. He did actually!”
The rugby player added that he gets on well with Richard these days, but it took a while, as the presenter wasn’t used to a “meathead” like him. He went on: “We’ve developed our relationship now to the point where I can give him a little bit of stick here and there.”
Coleen interjected that Richard has “a great sense of humour” as Chloe added: “They swear a lot at each other!”
James laughed and insisted: “In a good way!”
Chloe confirmed: “In a good way, in an affectionate way. I hear them swearing in the kitchen.”

It was only last week that the personal trainer admitted she’d fallen out with her dad as she prepared to walk down the aisle last month.
The veteran TV presenter started an inappropriate conversation with her about Brexit in the car on the way to her wedding.
Speaking on Lorraine, Chloe revealed: “We had a moment in the hotel room before and got in the car.
“I was watching the Sat Nav time go down and down and down as we started getting closer to the church. And my heart was going, and I was getting really nervous, and he started talking about Brexit!”
