Chris McCausland admits ‘sprain’ injury left him ‘dropping’ Dianne Buswell on Strictly

The star had been forced to seek medical advice

Strictly star Chris McCausland has had to seek medical advice due to a health issue he has struggled with whilst rehearsing with partner Dianne Buswell.

The blind comedian, 47, is expected to perform a Waltz to the Liverpool anthem You’ll Never Walk Alone on Saturday (October 19). But he has struggled in rehearsals due to an injury.

The star has reportedly been referred to Strictly’s physio team to help treat this painful issue.

In an op-ed for The Times, Chris described the challenges he has endured this week, including suffering from a “horrible stinking cold”.

The comedian joked that he had mentioned to Dianne “several times an hour” that he was feeling under the weather. The pro dance then reprimanded him for “moaning”!

He insisted: “I would simply say that I was keeping her up-to-date with what my body was telling me – and my body was moaning.”

The Strictly star also described being particularly bunged up during his performance of the Salsa last Saturday. He explained that if not for having his mouth open throughout the dance, he claims he would have “suffocated”.

Chris also opened up about suffering an injury which he insists is “mild”.

“As sprains go, it was a mild one and I was deemed fit to dance by the Strictly physio, but I needed to wear a wrist support,” Chris explained. “On the Thursday I did actually forget to put this wrist support on and ended up dropping poor Dianne in a rather unflattering heap on the floor. Sorry Dianne.”

Despite these hurdles, Chris appeared optimistic about his upcoming twirl around the dance floor at the weekend. He told Fleur on It Takes Two this week: “Everyone has a connection to the song. So you don’t want it to be rubbish.

“If we can do something that Liverpool fans like, I have done it well. If we can do something that Everton and Manchester United fans like, we have worked a miracle!”
