Troublemaker Simon is causing chaos on the cobbles as he hooks up with a gang of teen tearaways who are terrorising residents.
The gang put Audrey Roberts in hospital when they knock her over and steal her handbag.
Roy Cropper – who is with Audrey when she’s attacked – fills Peter in on what his son has been up to.
Peter and Simon’s adopted mum, Leanne Battersby, despair over what to do about their son’s wayward behaviour and Peter ends up opening up to Carla.
Later, Carla spots Simon with the gang and furiously confronts them but the youngsters try to intimidate her by surrounding her.
She stands her ground but realises that she probably needs to try a different approach with her former stepson.
Carla ends up offering Simon a job at the factory working in IT – will this be enough to tame this wild child?
Peter and Leanne are certainly impressed when Simon’s behaviour at home starts to improve and he shows genuine kindness to Hope and Ruby after Fiz and Tyrone row in the pub.
He even calls out the warring pair, telling them they need to stop arguing for the sake of their children.
Well, if anyone knows about damaging childhood’s, it’s Simon Barlow.
