The Corrie double bill on a Friday night is an institution that we look forward to every week – and it’s the last chance to catch up with the residents of Weatherfield before the weekend.
And to have that taken away is never something that we like to endure!
However, we’ll have to try and get by this week as ITV will be showing a football match instead of concluding some gripping storylines.
Fair enough, as far as football goes it’s about as big as it gets – England v Germany at Wembley – but it’s a friendly game, to prepare both sides for upcoming World Cup qualifiers.
And we’d much rather be seeing what’s happening with some of the juiciest Corrie plot lines we’ve seen in ages.
For one thing, Aidan is angry with Johnny for deciding to emigrate to Spain with the insurance money, and is accusing Jenny of influencing his old man.
And then there are the revelations spewing from Seb’s mouth now that he’s moved in with Sally.

Not to mention poor Anna Windass’s struggles to clear her name after nasty Pat Phelan made it his life’s mission to bring her down.
Fans were predictably outraged at the change to their regular programming schedule, with many taking to Twitter – often with comments too X-rated for publication!
One angrily wrote: “I’m joining my other half at being peed off that Corrie’s not on tonight!! As some idiot has put a nonsense football match on instead!”
And another said: “ITV behave, my day is ruined knowing that Corrie is not on in replacement for football.”
And one offered a seemingly sensible alternative, suggesting: “I can’t understand why when there’s football on the tele that they can’t just put it on another channel… why do ye have to cancel a programme that’s loved and watched by millions?”
We were especially excited to find out what’s going to happen between Anna Windass and Pat Phelan after her appearance on This Morning today, but will now have to find out how it ends next week.

Looks like the best we can hope for tonight is a resounding win for England – and a return to regular Corrie programming next week!
