And it’s been confirmed that David won’t tell anyone what’s happened to him as he struggles to deal with the aftermath of the attack, pushing away those closest to him.

Corrie bosses have said the storyline will focus on David’s mental health following the brutal attack which broke fans hearts.

But viewers are predicting that David might have a hero in dad Martin (Sean Wilson) who is due to return to the ITV soap.

Fans have taken to Twitter to predict that Martin will go all out to get revenge on Josh for raping his son.

“Sean Wilson’s character will sort it for real,” predicted one soap watcher.

Another agreed saying: “When Martin comes back I hope he sorts that evil Josh out.”

And a third predicted Martin would take David away from Weatherfield: “I bet now he’ll go emigrate with Martin – David’s a great character so I hope he doesn’t go.”

Fans were left stunned on Friday when Josh poured date rape drug GHB into David’s drink when he popped to the loo.

David was out drowning his sorrows after hearing that Martin was planning on emigrating to New Zealand with his pregnant partner.

Viewers watched in horror as Josh led a barely conscious David into his bedroom, throwing him face down on the bed.
