Corrie killer Pat Phelan’s carefully constructed lies start falling apart next week – and it’s wife Eileen who pays the ultimate price.
Things go wrong for Phelan when Mona announces he’s not being paid for the shoddy work he did laying the concrete at the mill development – because the concrete needs to be dug up and re-laid.
Of course, Mona’s got no idea that Pat dug up the bodies of his murder victims Vinnie and Andy and buried them in the concrete.
Terrified that he’s going to be found out, Phelan persuades Eileen to go and check out a cottage that might be suitable for them to move to. It’s in a remote seaside location and it sounds perfect.
Poor Eileen’s still completely in the dark about her husband’s evil deeds, and she’s unaware that she’s part of his plan to do a runner.
When they arrive Phelan tells his wife that he’s hired a boat so they can pop across the sea and check out some properties in Ireland too.
Of course, he’s actually planning to scarper. He throws some clothes and his passport into a bag, tells Eileen he’s just off for a quick walk, and heads to the boat.
But soppy Eileen follows with a picnic, hoping to surprise her hubby. And she’s shocked to see him getting in the boat.
Meanwhile, back in Weatherfield, the bodies have been discovered but Gary’s been arrested on suspicion of murder.
Knowing the police have the wrong man, Tim’s trying to get hold of Eileen to fill her in but there’s no signal.
Back at the seaside, Eileen’s cut her foot and is being looked after by Pat, when her phone suddenly connects and the message gets through.
Horrified by what she hears, she tries to act as though nothing’s up. She persuades Pat to go back to the boat so she can call Tim back in private. But, one step ahead as ever, Phelan follows her as she makes the call.
Desperate to stop Eileen finding out the truth, Pat grabs her phone just as Tim answers. Bravely Eileen manages to shout where she is, while Pat throws her phone in the sea. Did Tim hear what was going on?
The couple tussle with Eileen accusing her husband of being a rapist, a murderer and a liar. She’s got a point!

But as the pair wrestle, the rusty railings give way.
Is this the end of Eileen? Or Phelan? Or both?
