An angry and frustrated David sneaks into the ring at the charity boxing event and insists he fight Gary in place of Tyrone who has pulled out as Hope has a therapist appointment.
But David doesn’t fight fairly and rains punches down on poor Gary who eventually falls to the ground unconscious!
It’s touch and go for the former soldier and – as David is led off by the police – Sarah is told he has a bleed on his brain and might not survive the next 24 hours.
Luckily Gary pulls through but his brush with death makes him consider the future – and Sarah’s very much part of that.
He asks her to marry him – for the second time – and she doesn’t hesitate in saying yes.
Awwww.
We’re guessing his brother-in-law-to-be might not be welcome at the nuptials however.
Gary and Sarah were engaged before but it all fell apart when Sarah discovered Gary was the father of Nicola Rubinstein’s unborn baby.
He’d had a one night stand with her after a night out – not realising she was the daughter of Pat Phelan.
