There’s been speculation for months about the return of a major Coronation Street character – and it looks like it IS going to happen!
Yes, Charles Lawson is set to return to the cobbles as Jim McDonald.
Bring on the trouble!
Ever since Corrie boss Kate Oates confirmed that a much loved character from the past would be heading back, fans have got their hopes up that the mysterious character could be lovable rogue Jim.

Okay, so he DID commit armed robbery and find himself in jail, but he’s never killed anyone (as far as we know). So, compared to Pat Phelan and rapist Josh Hunter, Jim is a pussy cat by soap standards!
Now a TV insider has told Metro.co.uk that discussions to bring the character back are underway, leading to a comeback storyline later this year.
Oh we can’t WAIT to see Liz’s face!
The insider said: “With Jim’s release date from prison approaching later this year, it is indeed something that Coronation Street bosses are in talks about. Bringing back Jim seems inevitable and a great way to stir up drama.
“While nothing is 100% confirmed at this stage, it is certainly the plan that we will see Jim on the cobbles again which will give Liz and Steve plenty to do.”

The source added: “Any return would be closer to the end of the year than any time in the immediate future. But it seems more of a case of when rather than if.”
Oh, goodie!
Hot-headed Jim was last seen in prison where he was trying to intimidate Peter Barlow.
Both Liz and son Steve no longer want anything to do with the convict.
But our Jim is not a man who takes no for an answer. And he has always loved the bones of Liz.
We wonder what he’ll make of Liz’s new love interest, ex-teacher Mick Johnson? Actually don’t answer that, we think we know!
Hide Mick, hide!
