Corrie newcomer James Burrows – who plays Michelle’s handsome son, Ali Neeson has revealed there’s going to be an all-out rivalry when Michelle’s other (non-biological) son Ryan shows up on the cobbles.
“There’s a lot of hatred there,” James told ED! when we grabbed him for a chat on-set at Corrie. “And there’s maybe some jealousy as well.”
And James added that there is a Biblical angle to their fighting.
“It’s a bit like Cain and Abel,” he said.
And even murderous? James wasn’t telling!
Michelle brought up Ryan unaware that a mix-up at the hospital meant he wasn’t her biological son. When she discovered what had happened – and met her real son, Ali (who was calling himself Alex back then), things did not go well.

She ended up telling Ali she couldn’t be a mother to him and – as Ali told Liz when she recognised him earlier this week – the pair haven’t spoken for a decade.
But James says despite all the “issues”, Ali isn’t a bad man.
“Generally he’s a nice guy, normal lad,” he said. “He might have a slightly darker side, especially with the way he’s being with Michelle, but he’s not a baddie.”
Ali’s not thrilled to see his mum and it’s going to take a lot of persuasion for him to let her back in his life.

“He’s got a chip on his shoulder, and a bit of an attitude,” agreed James.
But there is good news – at least as far as Michelle is concerned. James said the pair will make amends. Eventually!
But as for Ryan Connor when he arrives back in the Street? It doesn’t look like that’s going to be as easy to resolve as Ali’s relationship with his mum.
“It might get interesting,” teased James.
We can’t wait!
