Coronation Street SPOILER: New health crisis for Chesney

He's not coping on his return to work - what's wrong with him?

Coronation Street’s Chesney Brown has been through the mill of late, but after being stabbed he’s putting on a brave face and returning to work.

But it looks like it could all be a bit too soon when he suffers a terrifying panic attack.

Ches has had an eventful few months which saw him break up with girlfriend Sinead Tinker when she left him for Daniel Osbourne. He then supported her during the revelation Daniel had pushed Ken down the stairs, before wooing her back with a trip to an arty movie.

But his happiness lasted only a few minutes as he was then caught up in an altercation at the Bistro, which saw Robert Preston’s drug dealer ex-friend Rich stab Chesney with a broken bottle.

After recovering in hospital, and then spending time recuperating at home, Chesney seems to have landed himself Adam Barlow as his lawyer, who’s determined to get all the compensation he can for his client.

The ginger lad is of course out of pocket having not been able to work, so as well as making his claim, he’s building himself up for a return to the kebab shop next week.

He’s not particularly looking forward to it (well, who would be), but despite his lack of enthusiasm he remains sure he’s going in.

However Sinead can sense something’s not right with her man, and although she questions him over what’s troubling him, Ches refuses to give her any answers.

Putting on his uniform and heading across the road, Chesney faces a difficult first shift as a group of rowdy lads on a stag night want to be served. We can think of better places to go for a stag than Weatherfield, to be honest!

The guys probably don’t mean any harm at all and are just having a laugh, but their riotous behaviour triggers a panic attack in Chesney, who struggles to breathe and runs off, leaving the shop unstaffed.

Dev Alahan is not happy when he sees no one’s running the place and customers are cheekily helping themselves to free food.

But it’s far more worrying for Chesney who is fortunately found by Rana Nazir and Liz McDonald. The nurse is able to explain to worried Ches that he’s had a panic attack and it’s been brought on by stress.

Not wanting anyone else to know, Chesney swears both women to secrecy, and insists they’re especially not allowed to tell Sinead.

As he tries to pretend everything is normal later on, how long will he be able to keep up the act for?

It’s clear the attack is affecting him more than he’s prepared to let on, but will he find the strength to deal with his emotional demons before it gets even worse?
