Coronation Street SPOILER: New hope for Anna Windass as Phelan’s crimes are exposed

Could she be heading back to the cobbles?

With the truth about Pat Phelan’s murdering ways now common knowledge, the path has been set for an explosive return by wrongly imprisoned Anna Windass.

But is she really returning, or is it just wishful thinking?

As the news that they’ve had a killer living amongst them spreads around Coronation Street residents, Gary Windass is left wondering what this latest revelation could mean for his mum, Anna.

Ever since she was sent to jail in January after being found guilty of pushing Seb Franklin from a ladder, Anna has been doing time for a crime she didn’t commit.

But now that everyone knows the truth about Phelan, could her claims that she was framed by the serial killer finally be taken seriously?

Viewers know that Anna has suffered horrendously at the hands of evil Pat – but could she now return to the cobbles with him gone?

Next week’s trip to Weatherfield will see Gary wonder if Anna now has ground to appeal against her conviction.

There is certainly hope, especially considering the main evidence that went against her at the trial came from scheming Phelan himself.

When she left the soap at the end of last year, actress Debbie Rush who played Anna, made a leaving video for fans, telling them how much she had loved her time on the Street.

But she also hinted that his might not be the last we have seen of Anna… could she have been secretly telling us she is set to return now that Phelan is presumed dead?

The actress said: “I’m sure viewers will realise there is more to be had within Anna’s mind. She will be thinking about what she can do, how she can bring him down. How she can finally bring big baddie Phelan to justice.”

We’ve got our fingers crossed this isn’t the last we have seen of Anna.

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
