Coronation Street SPOILER: Phelan takes another hostage

Who's heading for the cellar this time?

Crikey, Coronation Street have an explosive week of episodes lined up next week that see evil builder, Pat Phelan, get even darker. Who knew it was even possible to get darker than keeping someone locked up in a basement for a year?

Corrie bosses are staying tight-lipped about what actually goes down, but what we can tell you is that some ghosts from the past come back to haunt Phelan and make him snap.

Apparently his cosy life in Weatherfield is put under threat – and so are the lives of anyone who has ever crossed him. And we know that list is pretty long.

Phelan’s promised his current hostage, Andy Carver, that he’ll soon be a free man – as soon as he finds a suitable replacement for him in the basement prison.

Among the people who are currently getting in Pat’s way are the recently returned Vinny, who stitched Phelan up with a scam they were running together.

He’s also got issues with Daniel Osbourne, who is causing trouble by sniffing into Phelan’s dodgy businesses in the hope of a scoop for the Weatherfield Gazette.

Then there’s poor Gary Windass who recently knocked Pat’s daughter, Nicola, up during a one night stand and subsequent fastest pregnancy ever.

Even Nicola could be a target as Phelan gets desperate and she begins to realise that her newly-found father isn’t quite the man she thought he was.

And who’s to say he only takes one new hostage? If Phelan is backed into a corner, we think it’s likely he could end up with a whole collection of prisoners.

Actor Connor McIntyre, who plays the unhinged builder, said: “Phelan thinks if Andy does something as bad as what Andy has on Phelan then Andy can’t ever go to the police so there is a certain logic to it.

“As the pressure is mounting, he starts looking at Nicola, Anna, Daniel and all the other people that he has encountered because Phelan never forgets an injustice or an injury to him.

“So who knows how many people from his dark and distant past he could be thinking of but certainly there are a lot of potential replacements aren’t there?”

One thing’s for sure, we know things don’t end well for one unlucky person.

Remember the ready-to-go grave and Phelan seemingly burying someone in the Corrie autumn trailer??
