Summer’s struggle with Billy’s addiction and self-endangerment in Corrie’s latest episode

The poor girl puts herself in peril

Poor Summer has had to endure more strife in the past six months than most kids – thankfully – have to deal with in a lifetime.

She’s really struggling with the toll that Billy’s accident and growing addiction to painkillers is taking on her.

And as the troubled vicar continues to take his eye off the ball where her welfare is concerned, the teenager puts herself in danger.

In tonight’s outing of Corrie, the bright pupil is struggling to keep on top of her schoolwork while wrangling with domestic duties and trying to essentially take care of herself.

She panics after receiving a call at school from Eileen and Eva, who are struggling to rouse Billy in the flat.

And they have good reason to be concerned, as he is inside unconscious after taking an overdose of painkillers – supplied by vengeful Adam.

On hearing the worrying news that Billy isn’t answering the door, Summer worries that he has taken a tumble and has seriously hurt himself… or worse.

Desperate to get home and check on her ‘dad’, the normally switched on girl throws everything she’s ever learned about stranger danger out the window.

She has one mission – to get home fast, and she’s going to do whatever it takes to make that happen.

Summer needs to get home quickly, but is startled when a strange man pulls up outside the school and offers to give her a lift.

And that includes taking a lift from someone she doesn’t know… which could lead do a whole new kind of heartache for Billy and Eileen.
