According to The Sun Corrie bosses have refused to kill the popular character off, leaving the door open for her to return.
The same report also revealed that Eva will give birth in dramatic scenes on a bathroom floor before handing the baby girl to Toyah Battersby to register as her own.
After handing over the baby, Eva will quit the Street for America.
An insider told the tabloid: “Producers wanted to give Catherine the option to return in future once she’s had the chance to pursue other acting jobs.
“She was keen to do some serious dramas but working for the soap has always been a dream job for her.
“Bosses are sure that she will be back one day when her son is slightly older and she’s taken the opportunity to work elsewhere.”
Catherine revealed she was quitting the cobbles last year, admitting it was a really tough decision to make.
The blonde bombshell said at the time: “Eva has been such fun to play over the last seven years and who knows one day she might be back in Weatherfield again.
