Yes, she starred in Doctor Who alongside former Emmerdale actress Jenna Coleman.

Jenna, of course, played Clara Oswald in the BBC time-traveling drama and Nicola played her mum, Ellie.

Who, knew? Geddit?

A Coronation Street fan account tweeted a snippet from the Doctor Who wikia saying: “How on earth did I not realise until just now that @nicolathorp_ played Clara’s mum in Doctor Who?”

You’re not alone there, don’t worry.

Nic has a busy week on the cobbles this week as it’s the long awaited downfall of Phelan.

And she’s been just as busy off-screen too, recently sleeping rough in Blackpool to raise money for a homeless charity.

And her social media followers have praised her for using her fame to do something good for others.

Nicola joined hundreds of other caring people who were sleeping on the street in aid of the Street Life Charity in Blackpool.

Nicola shared a photograph of herself on Instagram, wrapped up well against the cold, to thank all her supporters.

She wrote: “Thank you to everyone who has donated,” she wrote. “And thanks to those sleeping rough next to me who have shared their inspirational stories.”

Nicola is an ambassador for the charity and said she is proud to be associated with the organisation.
