Speaking on BBC Radio Five Live, Ryan said: “We will start to see more of the type of character that Josh is and the way he works and the manipulation games that he plays.”
Since drugging and raping David (Jack P Shepherd) during Friday night’s double-bill, Josh has arrived at the Platt house and terrified David by bringing him a smoothie and acting like nothing has happened.
He’s also honed in on David’s girlfriend Shona Ramsey, telling her not to be angry at David for staying out all night.
On Monday Shona was seen telling David that Josh was a nice guy, proving his manipulative nature.
Ryan also spoke about the research he’d done for the role, along with charity Survivors UK.
He said that Josh leaving a note on the pillow for David, and carefully folding his clothes is a fairly standard move in cases like this.
Ryan said: “I spoke to Sam from Survivors Manchester and the one thing that Sam said was the morning after they had, and for other stories, where their people had then left nice notes, or folded their clothes up like we saw the other night and treated it like, ‘Oh what a great night we had and it was totally consensual’.”
Josh has tried to convince David that the rape was consensual sex, and David will be seen doubting himself and wondering if he somehow led Josh on.
