Shayne said: “I will miss it when I leave but it’s not done favours for the dad bod.
“The canteen has a really great menu but then it also has really naughty food.
“Put it this way — it’s your choice, but then if you eat from the naughty menu you’ve got to make sure you don’t put weight on, which is what happened to me really.”
He went on to add there was fish and chips every Friday and a huge selection of sweet dishes like fudge brownies or rhubarb and apple crumble for dessert.
Last September Shayne stripped off for a Loose Women campaign showing off his fuller figure and emphasising that he’s happy with the way he looks.
But he also admitted that abuse from online trolls hurt him more than he let on.
He said: “For guys, if your mate tells you you’ve put on a bit of weight you laugh about it and make it banter.
“But when they’ve left the room you’re left with those comments that can cut like a knife.”
Shayne, who is bowing out of Corrie later this year, is happily engaged to former Hollyoaks star Sophie Austin and the pair share a daughter, Willow May.
He added that he has no current plans to hit the gym to get his famous gym-honed body back.
