The end is near for Aidan Connor’s time in Weatherfield.
Actor Shayne Ward hosted his Coronation Street co-stars last night at his official leaving party in Manchester.
He was joined by Catherine Tyldesley, who plays his on-screen ex-girlfriend Eva, and co-stars including his on-screen sisters Alison King (aka Carla) and Faye Brooks (Kate).
Lucy Fallon, Colson Smith, and Matilda Freeman also attended the party to say goodbye to their colleague.
But for fans the occasion means Shayne’s character Aidan will soon be departing the show.

With soaps filming around six to eight weeks in advance, this means Aidan will leave the cobbles at some point in May in what has been promised to be an “explosive storyline”.
A source told The Sun: “Nobody will see this coming.
“Viewers are going to be absolutely stunned. It’s going to be a blow for the fans – but also a massive TV moment.”
It comes shortly after Catherine Tyldesley began auditioning for roles in preparation for her own exit from Corrie.
The actress has decided to leave her role of Eva Price after seven years on the soap.
And in preparation she was given time off to begin auditioning again.

A source told The Sun Online: “Cath has made no secret of the fact she wants to spread her wings a bit more.
“She loves Corrie and playing Eva but it was time to get back out there as a jobbing actress.
“She’s started reading scripts and auditioning for new drama roles and it’s a really exciting time for her.”
