There’s been a lot of doom and gloom for the residents of Weatherfield of late, be it death or heartbreak.
So a wedding proposal is just what the Street needs to put a spring in people’s step and a smile on their faces.
Robert and Michelle have both been through some dark times, so it’s especially lovely to see them basking in some happiness as he gets down on bended knee!
She began to fall for him as he helped her though the grief of losing son Ruari, and she supported him through his cancer battle, prison stay and gambling issues.
It was just a question of time before they sealed their love by becoming engaged.
And the silver fox chef pops the question next week – although joyful as it is, we reckon he could have picked his timing better.
Michelle has just completed a charity fun run as her beau surprises her with the romantic gesture.

But if she was hoping for a rather more glamorous scenario, Michelle doesn’t let it show.
She beams with delight as Robert presents the ring… but will she actually say yes?

The former barmaid is no stranger to heartbreak – ex-husband Steve really put her through the wringer.
It’s not the only surprise for Michelle next week – she is stunned to run into her biological son, Alex, who was raised by another family after a mix-up at birth.
He is training to be a GP and training at the medical centre.
She’s not seen her boy since he was a teenager, when they had a less-than-successful attempt at reuniting after learning of the hospital blunder.
