Zeedan Nazir shocks his family in Coronation Street next week when he announces his plans to leave the cobbles for good.
The restaurant owner is left shaken after his attack on thuggish Phil and hopes he’ll pull through.
Rana reassures him that Phil is expected to make a full recovery but their joy is short-lived when they spot the police leaving Steve McDonald’s flat.
The police are questioning Steve as he’s the one who found Phil, but the Street Cars owner has nothing left to tell them.
Later the police question Kate and Rana, telling them that Phil has said he remembers seeing an Asian male when he was attacked, but the girls play dumb.
As reviews for Speed Dahl begin to come in, weighed down with guilt, Zee announces he’s packing in the restaurant and leaving Weatherfield.
Yasmeen, Imran, Rana, and Alya are stunned and Imran and Rana try to get him to see sense but it looks as though his mind is made up.
Will Zeedan listen to his family or start afresh somewhere new?
Qasim Akhtar who plays Zeedan recently spoke out about why he was leaving the role in the ITV soap.
He told Digital Spy: “I’ve always been really ambitious and I still have that fire and hunger in my belly where I want to explore and do other projects.

“Because I am seeing so much more diversity in shows nowadays and the pressure that shows have got to introduce more Asian and black actors into things, I feel like it’s a great time for me to be out there.
“Just talking for myself, in the position I am in – being young and not having major commitments in my life – if there is ever a time to do it, it’s now.”
Qasim also admitted that when he joined Corrie he didn’t think he would be there for more than three years – but by the time his final scenes air at the end of this month, he would have been on the soap for four years.
