Corrie star excited to be taking a break from ‘mundane’ Weatherfield

It's not all murders and grooming on the cobbles

Coronation Street star Antony Cotton has said that he’s looking forward to his upcoming stint on the revamped Dancing On Ice as it will give him a break from the routine of the cobbles.

Antony has played Sean Tully for over 14 years and has admitted that he’s excited to take a break from his day job.

Speaking to the Mirror, he said: “I’ve been there 15 years – and a change is as good as a rest. I love Coronation Street, it’s been really good to me.

“But Weatherfield is a community where mundane things happen as well as the rapes and murders that go on.”

He added: “It’s a routine and an institution. So doing something like Dancing On Ice gives you a different take on life. You meet new people.”

Antony – and the other 11 celebrities who’ll be hitting the ice – is currently in training before the show hits our screens again in the New Year.

Meanwhile, DOI’s Mr Nasty, Jason Gardiner, has warned contestants not to over-indulge in ANYTHING over the Christmas break.

Speaking to The Sun, he said: “They need to avoid alcohol, any overindulgence on Christmas Day and sex.

“Absolutely no sex. It drains you of your chi.”

And Phil Schofield had some similar words of warning for his co-host, Holly Willoughby.

The This Morning presenter said: “She better not be bloody pregnant this time round. Enough now. Now we can enjoy ourselves.”

Mum-of-three, Holly, was expecting during the 2008 and 2010 editions of the show.

Phil joked: ““I snuck into their bedroom without them knowing and I’ve snipped Dan. I’m not having any of that again.”

Blimey Schofe, settle down.
