Bruno, 34, pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual assault on Tuesday and he was handed a 12-month community order and told to pay each of his victims £250 compensation.
One of the actresses, described by The Sun as a ‘senior favourite’ reportedly said: “Getting hammered on drink and then assaulting women is no excuse or has any place in this world.
“We on the set were prepared to give Bruno the benefit of the doubt until the allegations were proved.”
She went on to say that his behaviour was ‘disgraceful’ and that there is ‘genuine shock’ among the Corrie cast that Bruno pleaded guilty to the attacks.
The second female star reportedly said: “He works on a family TV show, is recognised in public, then goes out and single-handedly destroys his reputation and career by resorting to sexually assaulting women.”
She added that everyone on the show agrees.
Bruno left the soap after the allegations were made and in a statement that was released before he was charged, he said:
“Sadly, I will no longer be working on Coronation Street. Acting on the show has been the fulfilment of a personal dream.
“Playing the role of Todd Grimshaw since I was 17 years old has been a huge part of my life, and an absolute honour.
“I would like to thank all of my friends who work on the show for their love, friendship and support during this extremely difficult period.”
Following his sentencing, Bruno issued another statement, apologising for his behaviour.
He said: “I sincerely apologise to the people involved and affected by my disgraceful behaviour on the evening of 30th September.
“I have absolutely no memory of what happened because of excessive alcohol consumption and it was for this reason that I behaved completely out of character.”
