Usually Coronation Street fans despair when Pat Phelan sets his sights on another target. But during last night’s episode everyone was united as – for once – they hoped the Cobbles Killer would strike again.
The trouble started when Summer was left to fend for herself after school. Worried about Billy, she called and spoke to Eileen, and then she rang her dad again but there was no answer.
All that meant she was late leaving school and she missed her bus home.
As she stood in the street, wondering what to do next, a car pulled up next to her.
“You look a bit upset,” the driver said, before offering Summer a lift home.
The sensible schoolgirl hesitated, but worried that Billy had fallen at home and was in trouble, she was desperate to get back home. Would she get in the stranger’s car?
As the driver slowly followed Summer along the road, he told her he had a daughter about Summer’s age and he wouldn’t want her walking home alone.
“You never know what sort of weirdos are hanging around,” he said.
And then, just as it looked like the man wasn’t going to give up, who should appear in his red van, like a superhero? Pat Phelan!
Relieved, Summer ran over to him and the creepy driver speeded off.
“What was that man saying to you?” Pat asked.
Summer explained and Pat looked stern.
“You did right to say no,” he said. “Did you get his registration number? Never mind, I did…”
And the fans were thrilled! Desperately hoping that this time, Phelan would do his best to take revenge on the man who was obviously trying to abduct little Summer.
“Moral dilemma now,” mused one fan. “Do we want Phelan to sort out the pervy driver?”

“I guess he’ll be the next on Phelan’s list,” predicted another. “Please let Phelan catch him,” begged another viewer.
“Beware dodgy man,” one pleased fan wrote. “Phelan is going to chop you up good and proper.”

And another agreed: “Actually hoping that Pat tracks down and kills the paedophile that tried to kidnap Summer.”
Could Phelan start using his evil powers for good? We really hope so!
