It follows a shocking discovery

Coronation Street favourite Adam Barlow is rumoured to take an overdose in upcoming months that leaves his life hanging in the balance.

We already know that vicar, Billy Mayhew, will be revealed as being responsible for the death of Adam’s mother, Susan Barlow, 16 years ago, following his arrest for armed robbery.

And, according to The Sun, Adam – played by Sam Robertson – will take drastic action when he discovers his mother’s death was the fault of someone close to him and not a random stranger.

Susan was killed in a car crash, which also injured Adam.

She was trying to get away from Adam’s dad, Mike Baldwin at the time.

Billy is set to make the confession to boyfriend Todd Grimshaw that he is responsible for the death of Susan.

The discovery that Billy was responsible leaves the Barlow clan reeling, particularly Susan’s dad, Ken and her son, Adam.

A Corrie insider told the paper: “This is yet another blow for Ken.

“It’s one of the most upsetting family problems he’s ever had to cope with — and he’s had to deal with quite a few.

“This may also herald the start of a downward spiral for Adam, whose time on Coronation Street has already been far from plain sailing.”

Apparently Adam will turn to painkillers and alcohol after finding out the full story.

He’s left in a bad state, but is saved by his uncle, Daniel Osborne, who finds him. But Adam begs him not to call an ambulance.

The Barlow family all then rally round to support Adam, who also reveals that he previously had a drug problem.

Adam is currently embroiled in a feud with former factory boss, Aidan Connor, after he set up for the factory to be robbed.
