Coronation Street’s official Twitter has been an absolute treat this festive season with its wonderful online advent calendar – but our favourite so far was Day 16’s offering.
In case you missed it, the treat was a clip of David Platt actor, Jack P Shepherd, reading out some fan tweets about his bad boy alter-ego.
Happy Saturday! Happy DAY SIXTEEN! And happy @JackPShepherd88 reading your best tweets about David Platt (this could get messy 😁) #Corrie pic.twitter.com/NGhOkYJfTO

It all starts off quite nicely with Jack reading out a complimentary tweet saying: “Just flicked past Corrie and David Platt has got very attractive all of a sudden.”
Jack looked pretty chuffed with that, understandably, but it wasn’t all fun and games for long.
After another nice tweet, which said serving Jack at Magic Kingdom in Disneyland had been the highlight of one fan’s day, a less kind tweet simply said: “David Platt has got to be the biggest gimp on the planet.”
Another laid into David’s ‘whiney, nasal voice’ and ‘rat face’, causing Jack to laugh his head off before saying: “It’s funny because it’s true!”
There was some confusion with one tweet that said David had been threatening Shona with a ‘Yorkshire Terrorist’.
A giggling Jack said: “I think that’s my dog. You mean a Yorkshire terrier not terrorist.”
Jack took the tweets in good spirits, looking on the bright side as he said: “They’re all positive, I can learn from these.”
The Corrie star has recently gone public with his new girlfriend, Hanni Treweek, posting some loved-up pics of them snuggling up together on Instagram.

Jack split from his fiancee, Lauren Shippey, earlier this year after 15 years together.
The former couple have two children together, Nyla, eight, and three-year-old Reuben.
At the time, Jack’s rep released a statement saying: “Jack and Lauren remain the best of friends and their main focus is the care of their children.”
