Coronation Street’s Kym Marsh appeared on This Morning earlier today to chat about this week’s huge episodes on the soap – and she dropped a bombshell while she was there.
While chatting about all things Phelan, Kym surprised viewers by apparently backtracking on her claims that her contract with the soap has been renewed.
The actress revealed in her OK! Magazine column recently that she had just signed for another year playing Weatherfield’s Michelle, seemingly confirming that her character isn’t going to die after being shot by Phelan on her wedding day.

Kym told readers of her weekly column: “I’m really pleased to announce I’ve signed to Corrie for another year. It’s great to know that I’ll be there for another 12 months doing what I love doing and being with my friends.”
But on the This Morning sofa today she told hosts Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes that things might not be as they seem.
When Eamon asked whether her contract had been “renewed or reviewed” the actress seemed to gloss over what she has said in her magazine column…
“Well, there was reports that it had been renewed, but is that a red herring?”
Kym them went on to chat about Michelle getting shot by notorious serial killer Pat Phelan on her wedding day, revealing that she was excited when Corrie bosses told her Michelle would be caught up in the drama…
“You would never imagine Michelle would get anywhere near this story, because there’s not really been any connection between Michelle, Robert and Phelan at all.
“When I was told we were involved in this story I was literally clapping my hands because it is such an amazing thing.
“As actors we love the drama and to be involved in such a huge exit storyline for Connor McIntyre is great.”

Kym also gave viewers some details about the shooting that happens this week during Coronation Street’s special post-watershed 9pm episodes…
“She gets shot in the abdomen. Having never been shot, thankfully, I had to do a lot of research and guess work.
“The wedding dress is ruined though, I’ll never get to wear that again!”
