Corrie’s Samia Longchambon reveals sweet childhood memory with I’m A Celebrity’s Andy Whyment

They go back a long way

Soap star Samia Longchambon has treated fans of her on screen sibling Andy Whyment to her sweet first memory of the I’m A Celebrity fave.

The two Mancunian actors have portrayed brother and sister Kirk and Maria in Weatherfield since 2000 – but their friendship goes back even further than that.

Posting a snap of them together on Instagram, Samia wished her Coronation Street pal all the best for tonight’s final episode of the 2019 series of the ITV jungle reality show.

But she also shared a delightful little anecdote from when they first met in the late 1980s.

Samia, 37, wrote: “So… as any Coronation Street fan knows, Andy and me play brother and sister in the show but… not many of you will know that Andy was the very first friend I made at drama school when I was six years old and he was seven.

“The first thing he ever said to me was ‘Hi, I’m Andy… do you want a Frazzle?’ (Frazzles are smoky bacon flavour crisps by the way).”

I’m just glad everyone has got to see what a genuinely good human he is!

She continued: “I love Andy with all my heart, he is one of the nicest guys you could ever wish to meet and will forever be my friend.

“It would be ace if he got crowned King of the I’m A Celebrity jungle, but if he doesn’t… it’s all good too. I’m just glad everyone has got to see what a genuinely good human he is!”
