Now we know who’ll be lacing up their skates to hopefully life the trophy at the end of the series.

Dancing On Ice 2025: Ferne McCann signs up

Former The Only Way Is Essex star Ferne McCann announced she’d be taking part in Dancing On Ice 2025 on GMB on September 30.

The sign-up comes after she quit her own ITV reality show, My Family and Me. Ferne is mum to daughter Sunday, six, with acid attacker Arthur Collins, and Finty, one, with fiancé Lorri Haines.

“The point where everything changed was when Sunday actually said to me: ‘Am I famous?’ A few of her friends had seen her on an advert.

“And I was like: ‘Oh I don’t know…’ It made me feel uncomfortable. Because I don’t want her to feel she is different… After that it felt like a whole different ball game. So I went away and worked out what I was feeling, and it felt like the right time to stop.”

But Ferne hasn’t quit telly completely. Speaking about Dancing On Ice, she said: “I’m so excited. It”s going to be a huge challenge but I’m excited for the glitz and glamour of the show.”

Fans react

Ferne’s army of fans were thrilled she’s joined the line-up.

One commented: “Oh I love this!!! Cannot wait to see you Ferne!” Another said: “Yesssssss can’t wait for this @fernemccann. You will smash this good luck darling.”

Oti Mabuse, who is a judge on the show, also welcomed Ferne. She posted in the comments with a heart emoji and a high five emoji.

Lorraine Kelly had the honour of announcing the second celebrity to sign up.

“It’s lovely Mollie,” said the host as the star gave her a kiss.

“I’m raring to go,” said Mollie. “The thought of it is scary but I just want to get started, get practising,” she said, before revealing her mum used to take her ice skating when she was little.

Mollie also revealed that she’ll be a bit of a daredevil. “I really want to do the headbanger. My parents are going to go mad,” said the star, who has a stoma and a limb difference.

“It’s my normal,” said Mollie when asked by Lorraine about her hand. “I’ve never let it get in my way before.”

Fans of the series were less than impressed with the signing, though, sadly.

One said: “Yet another non celeb. ITV get some proper celebrities on. Reality shows are rubbish.” A second added: “How is appearing on a gameshow a celeb? I appeared on 15 to 1 once, when am I gonna get the call?”

Later on This Morning, Coronation Street actor Sam Aston was announced as the fourth contestant.

He said: “I’m nervous, don’t get me wrong. But I’m excited to get started. It’s going to be nice for the public to see me for me rather than Chesney.”

Sam said his children are excited for him to do the show. Meanwhile, the Chesney Brown actor also revealed he’s been in contact with Ryan Thomas – who won the series this year.

She said: “I think it’s just settling in today.”

Charlie said she’s skated before as a kid and with “mulled wine at Christmas”. Charlie added: “I can get around a little, tiny bit. Until I get on the ice, I have no idea what I’m going to be like.”

Dancing On Ice 2025: Josh Jones

Comedian Josh Jones has become the sixth star to join the line-up. Talking to Gaydio on October 2, Josh said: “I’ve not got any skating experience whatsoever, I did it once for a date years ago and I wasn’t very good, I was holding onto the railings the entire time and we aren’t together now.

“My dancing isn’t great either, for a gay man I have no rhythm, I struggle to clap along to a beat so this will be fun.”

One fan gushed: “No way! I’ll actually be watching this now!”

Another wrote: “Omg what?!?!?! @joshyjones92 Amazing!!!”

However, another said: “I don’t know many comedians but seriously who the heck is he?”

Dancing on Ice 2025 Anton Ferdinand

Footballer and Pundit Anton Ferdinand was announced as the seventh celebrity contestant on Wednesday (October 2).

Talking exclusively to talkSPORT Radio, Anton said: “I decided to sign up for the show because it’s a challenge first and foremost. I’m in a new phase of my life since retiring from football and the one of the things I’ve missed about playing is the structure it gives you.”

He added: “Dancing On Ice will give me that focus but I’m also doing it for my daughter because she loves dance and performing arts. My son always had my football to shout about so this will give my daughter and me something to share.”

Reacting to his upcoming stint, fans soon shared their thoughts. On Instagram one person gushed: “Never watched it but now there’s a reason.” A second penned: “Come on Anton!” A third wrote: “I cannot wait to watch this.”

Talking exclusively to Heart, Dan said: “I’m looking forward to it but the thought of the live shows and performing is very real. I like to think I can ice skate a little bit but I’m a terrible dancer so that bit is going to need some work.”

He was announced on Heart FM, too. Chris said: “I’m somewhere between absolutely terrified and very excited and I keep flitting between the two quite aggressively throughout the day. I’ve not even started stretching yet, I need to.”

Chris added: “I can skate but my dad got the snakehips, unfortunately I didn’t inherit that genetically from him.”

Fans weren’t exactly thrilled by the triple whammy of announcements that arrived on the morning of October 3, though.

“Seriously, who are these people?” one asked.

Michaela Strachan

BBC star Michaela Strachan has become the 11th star to sign up to the show.

On Lorraine on October 3, Springwatch, Autumnwatch and Winterwatch star Michaela said: “I’ve been considered for [the show] twice and this year they’ve asked me to do it.

“I think it would have been better 40 years ago because I would have been 40 years younger. I’m 58 and we just don’t mend as well as we get older!”

Dame Sarah Storey

Britain’s most successful Paralympian Dame Sarah Storey was the final star announced as joining the line-up for Dancing On Ice 2025.

She was announced on Lorraine on Monday October 7.

“I’m excited, the training part starts this week,” she said, as she showed off her Paris medal haul.

Dame Sarah also told Lorraine that she’s excited for her kids to watch her take to the ice in January.

“Love her,” said one fan of the show.

However, after learning the full line-up, others weren’t impressed. In fact, one declared: “Not gonna lie, this line-up is pretty poor, even by Dancing On Ice standards.”

‘Who will lift the trophy?’

The new series of Dancing On Ice starts in January.

ITV has announced that 12 new celebrities will “prepare to embark on the ultimate challenge as they take to the ice each week”. It added: “They’ll be skating live in a bid to impress both the panel and viewers at home.”

The statement added: “Back for a sparkling new series, the greatest show on ice promises more glitz, glamour and show-stopping performances as the celebrities brave it all to learn this challenging new discipline.

“But who has what it takes to master the skill and steps to lift the trophy at the end of the series?”
