Dancing On Ice: Trisha Goddard confirmed as contestant

Only one more celebrity to be unveiled for 2020 series

Chat show host Trisha Goddard has been unveiled as the eleventh celebrity contestant for the next series of Dancing On Ice.

She was confirmed for the ITV skating show earlier today as she appeared on Good Morning Britain – and it sounds like the super-fit TV star can’t wait for the physical challenge.

“I love physical stuff,” she said.

“Every day I bike ride, I weight train, I love any physical thing.”

Trisha continued: “I learned to ski at 37, I learned to roller blade at 42. I’m 62 in December. I thought: ‘Why not?'”

However, some viewers were concerned about Trisha’s experience after she admitted to learning to ice skate “as a kid”.

And when asked if she is still any good by host Piers Morgan, Trisha chuckled modestly – but hinted she is still able to move around on the ice without topping over.

“Unfair advantage as she can skate,” grumbled one person on Twitter.

Another tweeter who claimed Trisha could be a “ringer” contributed: “Very experienced and proficient in both ice skating and rollerblading, she has been for decades.”

But another social media user added they believed Trisha would be a “great” addition to the celebrity participants.

There is still one final celebrity to be revealed as getting their skates on alongside the famous faces already lined up.

Also confirmed to be taking to the rink are Love Island‘s Maura Higgins, Michael Barrymore, former footballer Kevin Kilbane, ITV News presenter Lucrezia Millarini and Steps singer Ian ‘H’ Watkins.

Coronation Street actress Lisa George, Diversity’s Perri Kiely, Paralympian Libby Clegg, Joe Swash and magician Ben Hanlin have also signed up.

The 2020 series will also see John Barrowman join Torvill and Dean and Ashley Banjo on the judging panel.

The show is expected to begin airing on ITV in January.
