Dancing On Ice enemies to be reunited seven years after live fall-out

Will they kiss and make-up?

| Updated:

It’s not uncommon for Dancing On Ice to be dramatic – there’s often injuries, sometimes romances and always the threat of a performance going horribly wrong.

But you don’t usually except the drama to come from the experts.

However, that’s exactly what happened seven years ago, when notoriously opinionated judge Jason Gardiner clashed with coach Karen Barber.

In fact, so heated was their live argument that Karen was left wiping away tears, and a whooping 3,000 viewers complained to TV regulator Ofcom.

So fans of the show might be surprised to hear that the on-screen enemies are reuniting on the next series for the first time since their infamous spat.

According to The Sun, the pair are BOTH set to be returning to the show.

At the time, Jason lashed out at former panellist-turned-coach Karen, meowing: “If your opinion mattered you’d still be on the judging panel.”

She, clearly upset, responded: “Jason you really are offensive, you bring so little to this panel.”

Fans called out Jason on his cruel comments, and even host Holly Willoughby looked shocked at the exchange.

After the uproar, Jason appeared on TV to defend himself after being accused of bullying.

He said: “As someone severely bullied in my childhood, I know what bullying is like. So to actually discount what the real term bullying is and apply it to what I’m doing on a show, I think really is a disservice to young people now who are experiencing bullying.”

Jason has appeared as a judge since the very first series of the ITV competition, except for one year when he was replaced by Louie Spence.

Meanwhile, Karen has not appeared as a judge since 2014.

Reportedly, they are now set to sit on the same judging panel once again.

An insider told the newspaper: “There is no love lost between the two of them, and there’s bound to be fireworks.”

Karen, who is dating co-judge Christopher Dean, confirmed the news to the paper.

She said: “It’s a joy to return to Dancing on Ice as Head Coach.

“Having been involved with the show since its very first series, it holds a lot of special memories to me. And I’m looking forward to working with this year’s celebrities as we start transforming them into skating stars.”

Gemma Collins, Gabby Roslin and Richard Blackwood are all tipped to take part, while hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly are also returning in January 2019.

The last series was won by Jake Quickenden.
