Dancing On Ice fans concerned as Brian McFadden drops pro partner Alex Murphy again

The stumble happened towards the end of his routine

| Updated:

Brian McFadden accidentally dropped his Dancing On Ice partner Alex Murphy during Sunday night’s show.

As their performance came to an end, the former Westlife singer dropped pro skater Alex after an attempted lift went slightly wrong.

Despite the stumble, the judges still gave Brian, who previously dropped Alex on the show, a generous score of 24.5 out of 40.

Speaking to the judges after the performance, Brian admitted he was surprised to even take part in the show after suffering a back injury.

He said: “I would just like to thank our physio because I wasn’t even walking Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. I couldn’t even walk.

“And Alex has been unbelievable. She’s been sitting next to me in hospital and every physio session.”

Host Phillip Schofield then joked: “And then you dropped her!”

Judge Jayne Torvill told Brian: “You did one lift too many considering your injury.”

Christopher Dean added: “You should be upset with yourself but proud of yourself at the same time. Your basic skating is getting so much better. The lifts are strong but maybe too many lifts.”

Meanwhile, viewers watching from home voiced their concerns on Twitter.

One person said: “I can’t see Alex Murphy suggesting the headbanger to Brian McFadden any time soon. Not unless she’s got a death wish!”

Another wrote: “Brian is the only skater that I feel nervous just watching on #DancingOnIce I worry for his partner every week. He is so unsteady.”

A third tweeted: “Makes me far too nervous when Brian does lifts.”

Someone else added: “Brian McFadden is a liability on that ice…”

However, others defended Brian and insisted he was given too many lifts.

One person said: “Ah Brian you poor pet. You did brillaint. Be proud man,” while another wrote: “Poor Brian, way too many lifts especially for someone with a bad back, bless him.”
