Dancing On Ice winner James Jordan has admitted that he asked to pull out of the finale after being in so much pain from a shoulder injury.
The Strictly star nearly didn’t make the final show after being unable to carry on rehearsing with professional skating partner Alexandra Schauman.
James, 40, and Alexandra appeared on This Morning today (March 11) to discuss his win, and he admitted there could have been a very different ending for the show.
James, who is married to dancer Ola Jordan, 36, explained: “I fell on my shoulder, I’ve got a weak shoulder anyway. Then that night I couldn’t sleep, I was in agony.
“I got up in the morning and said to Ola, ‘I can’t move my arm’. I actually rang the producers straight away and said you’ve got to pull me out the show, my arm’s gone.”
James revealed that producers of the show then resorted to desperate measures to help him.
Things were so bad that he had to spend six hours in physiotherapy and even needed gas and air to block out the pain he was suffering.
He also had to miss final rehearsals before their all-important performance.

He continued: “They got me into physio, Sharon, and she spent six hours on my shoulder. I was on gas and air, she popped it back in and was trying to give me strengthening exercises.”
Luckily, the mammoth physio session worked and after taking pain killers James made it onto the ice for the final night.
He admitted he didn’t want to announce he had badly hurt himself during the show, because he didn’t want to take away from other finalists Wes Nelson and Saara Aalto.

He also confessed his shock at winning the ITV skating show.
James said he didn’t think he would take the trophy because of his dancing experience.
