BBC One’s new daytime drama Shakespeare and Hathaway: Private Investigators is proving such a hit with telly viewers that fans are already calling for more episodes to be made.
There are ten instalments in this series of the odd couple crime romp starring familiar TV faces Jo Joyner and Mark Benton – and with three down, commissioners are being called on to line up another series.
One fan tweeted:
@markbenton100 @dollyjoyner Really enjoying you both in Shakespeare and Hathaway, really hope there will be another series.. #ShakespeareAndHathaway #StratfordUponAvon

And another couple felt the lighthearted whodunnit set in Warwickshire should be ‘promoted’ to an evening slot to ensure more eyes can see it.
@dollyjoyner just wanted to say how much we are enjoying Shakespeare and Hathaway – we both think it should be on in the evenings & we know there are 10 but hope there are more to follow

Despite being fresh and scheduled during the afternoon, Shakespeare and Hathaway certainly doesn’t lack star power.
As well as regulars Jo and Mark, Chizzy Akudolu of Holby City, Roberta Taylor from The Bill and This Life’s Ramon Tikaram are also among the guest cast.
Wowsers, Timothy West, Sheila Steafel and Vicki Pepperdine in the same episode of Shakespeare and Hathaway. Some casting!

The gorgeous locations have also very much caught the eye.
Totally loving Shakespeare and Hathaway! Love the location filming in Stratford and Warwick, used to holiday there, has a very special place in our hearts. The music is beautiful. Great to see local Northerner Mark Benton in too!

As ever, though, change does not suit everybody.
One viewer was bemused over the axing of the very popular daytime offering The Coroner and subsequent replacement with S & H.
#BBC So they dump ‘The Coroner’ only to commission ‘Shakespeare and Hathaway’ – go figure that one out!

However, it turns out there are other benefits to working on your square eyes in the afternoon, particularly if there’s a grumpy baby around.
Fun for all the family!
