Poor old Anna Windass has had a heck of a few years on Coronation Street. She’s been set on fire, been blackmailed into having sex with Pat Phelan and has seen plenty of relationships break down.
And if that wasn’t enough, now she’s being framed for a crime she didn’t commit. Poor woman!
Evil Pat is doing his level best to make sure that she takes the rap for Seb falling off his ladder, and the police are buying every lie he tells them.
So it’s looking like curtains for Anna, and the lovely Debbie Rush, who plays her, was on the This Morning sofa to talk about her exit.
Speaking with Eamonn and Ruth about Anna’s difficult year – and how she might leave, Debbie said:
“Some people think I am going to be killed by Phelan, some people think I’m going down, so I’m going to leave that up to the public to keep thinking.”
Ooh, does that mean she’s not going to die and she’s just teasing her fans? Or is she actually going to meet her maker?
“I think what will happen, well I know what will happen, she will think she has hold of him,” Debbie continued.
In scenes to air next week, it’s revealed that Phelan offers her a simple choice between her freedom and helping him out by stopping his daughter, Nicola Rubenstein, fleeing to Australia.
“He has to be one of the most evil baddies we’ve ever had. He’s so good at being bad,” Debbie laughed.

Debbie then dropped a major hint into how Anna will deal with Pat’s evil schemes.
The show played a clip of next week’s scenes and in it Phelan says: “I’m giving you the opportunity to be a grandma again. If you don’t wanna take it, the other option is jail.
“I planted the earring, you keep fighting me and you’re going down. Or, you just grit your teeth, play happy families, and you help me get my Nicola back home.”
Debbie then subtly suggested which option her character picks, saying: “She’s got a choice – does she give up all her good judgement and have an easy life? But her pride’s too big.
“We’ll see her thinking that she’s still got hold of him, because she knows he wants so desperately to get Nicola back in his life, she’s got a tiny bit of power left.”
To us, that sounds like she’s not going to go down quietly – and may even end up setting Pat up for a fall!
She then went on to talk about how she and Connor McIntyre – who plays Pat – shoot their harrowing scenes together.
Debbie said: “Every time we’re about to do a scene together, we know it’s not going to be nice. We have a little cuddle beforehand, and then just before the scene we give each other a little look to start it off.”

Viewers were gutted to learn that they’ll have to wait until next week to find out what happens, as there’s an England football match tonight.
Whichever way Debbie leaves Corrie, she’ll be missed – she’s a fantastic actress and her stories always kept us talking!
