Simon Rimmer’s waltz moves Shirley Ballas to tears on Strictly Come Dancing

Host made a major slip up on the show

Sunday Brunch’s Simon Rimmer brought head judge Shirley Ballas to tears with his moving waltz on Saturday night’s Strictly Come Dancing.

But he and his co-host, Tim Lovejoy, almost brought Strictly bosses to tears on Sunday by accidentally revealing a little too much information about the previous night’s proceedings.

As viewers know, the Strictly results show is filmed on the Saturday night following the live show and broadcast on the Sunday evening.

Tim had been in the audience watching his colleague perform the emotional dance to Liverpool Football Club’s anthem You’ll Never Walk Alone, so he knows exactly who was sent home from the dance contest.

Speaking on today’s Sunday Brunch, Tim said: “Can I tell you something really funny?

“At the end of the show, I was asking him ‘how do you feel?’ and then he… Oh no, I can’t say! I’ll tell you next week.”

He added: “I’m so glad I stopped myself.”

But it seemed he still didn’t think before speaking later on, when he asked Simon about what he was dancing next week.

Simon responded: “I’m not allowed to say. I don’t know if I’m through to next week.”

At least he gets the rules!

Fans were quick to point out the gaffe and went on Twitter to have their say.

“No need to watch #Strictly results show now!! #SundayBrunch,” said one.

Another added: “So thanks to that [bleep] Tim Lovejoy we can now assume that Simon Rimmer is the first to leave Strictly tonight. What a Pratt. #SundayBrunch.”

“I think @timlovejoy might of said too much about tonight’s #Strictly results #SundayBrunch,” wrote a third.

While a fourth said: “Given @timlovejoy‘s face & football analogy, he gave away that @simonrim is booted out of next week’s #Strictly @SundayBrunchC4 #SundayBrunch.”

We’re not too sure he did give all that much away, but we’ll have to wait and see for definite tonight.

We can find out who leaves in the results show, starting at 7.15pm on BBC1.
