Fans of ITV drama Doc Martin were delighted to see actor Martin Clunes reunited with one of his former co-stars.
During last night’s (06.11.19) episode, beloved pet dog Buddy was ill and had to go under the knife.
Unfortunately for GP Martin Ellingham (Clunes), who has a phobia of blood, he was forced to wield the scalpel because vet Angela Sim’s (Caroline Quentin) eyesight had unexpectedly failed.

Martin and Caroline previously co-starred in ’90s sitcom Men Behaving Badly.
Aired between 1992 and 1999, Men Behaving Badly was about hapless pals Gary (Clunes) and Tony (Neil Morrissey) and their more responsible girlfriends, Dorothy (Quentin) and Deborah (Leslie Ash).
It ran for six seasons, concluding with a Christmas special and three 45-minute episodes that made up a feature-length finale.
As the penultimate episode of Doc Martin series nine aired, fans on Twitter reacted to having Martin and Caroline back together again.
One tweeted: “Haha loving this Clunes and Quentin double act in #DocMartin.”
Please can we have more Caroline Quentin in Doc Martin?
Another said: “Good to [see] Martin Clunes and Caroline Quentin back together on #DocMartin.”
A third put: “Please can we have more Caroline Quentin in #DocMartin? Great comedy partnership.”

It’s not the first time Caroline’s character has appeared in the programme, which follows grumpy London surgeon GP Martin Ellingham as he works at a doctor surgery in a sleepy Cornish village.
Vet Angela Sim also featured in series eight, back in 2017, and series seven in 2015.

The latter marked the duo’s first on-screen reunion in almost 17 years.
Martin said at the time, as reported by What’s on TV: “Caroline is so brilliant. It was very funny to see the reaction after Angela had self-medicated with animal medicine when we did a scene on the beach. Caroline played her role perfectly, is terribly funny, and completely plausible.”
