Coronation Street fans speculate on Geoff Metcalfe’s connection to Tim

Fans think so!

Audrey Roberts isn’t the only person who’s intrigued by newcomer Geoff in the ITV soap… He’s got fans wondering about him too.

In fact, some ITV viewers have a theory about the hospital radio DJ, and it definitely makes sense.

Audrey (Sue Nicholls) has been recuperating in hospital after being mugged and pushed over in the street by a gang of thugs (including Simon Barlow).

And, while she was reluctant to stay in the ward at first, DJ Geoff has been making her stay a bit more pleasant.

After all, isn’t it about time hairdresser Audrey had a new love interest?

And while smooth-talking Geoff slowly woos Audrey, fans have been speculating about the character because of his surname…

Yep, he’s a Metcalfe.

Fans voiced their assumptions on Twitter, jumping to the obvious conclusion that Geoff is related to Weatherfield resident Tim.

One said: “Geoff Metcalfe? Tim has the same surname. What’s the betting he’s tims dad.”

Another said: “Geoff METCALFE. He’s not Tim’s dad is he?”

Well, he’s certainly about the right age!

We do know that when Audrey is set to leave the hospital, she worries she won’t see her new friend again… Until he reassures her that he has family in Weatherfield so they might bump into each other.

Could window cleaner Tim (Joe Duttine) finally have an extended family on the show?

Geoff is played by acting veteran Ian Bartholomew. He’s recently starred in Marcella, Endeavour and DCI Banks.

Meanwhile, Audrey will come face to face with her con man ex-Lewis Archer, when Nigel Havers returns to the show later this year.
