Eamonn Holmes has thanked his good friend and This Morning co-presenter Rylan Clark-Neal for making his wife Ruth Langsford smile again.
Ruth revealed that she had lost her beloved sister Julia just over a week ago, after she passed away following a “very long illness”.
Ruth is understandably taking a break from her TV commitments while she comes to terms with her grief, with Rylan stepping in to host This Morning alongside Eamonn again today.
The pair were on screen together last Friday, too.
On the show, presenter Eamonn revealed that former X Factor star Rylan has been a tower of strength for his wife.
Eamonn laughed as he revealed that he had come home from work and couldn’t speak to Ruth for “one and a half hours” as Rylan was on the phone to her.

“You’re superb my friend, absolutely superb, a great counsellor,” Eamonn said.
“We have a lovely chat last night, we really did,” Rylan admitted as Eamonn held his hand.
Eamonn added: “You made her laugh for the first time in ten days or so which was absolutely lovely.”
He also shared a message of thanks from his wife and said: “Ruth wants me to say to all of you who’ve been in touch via social media and various messages, so many people, and particularly to the production team, everyone who works here in this studio, every one of them has been in touch and she’s so grateful.”

He added: “So thank you, she can’t reply to everything, she reads them all and it’s much, much appreciated.”
He added that Rylan was “chief counsellor”, with the star quipping: “How much you paying me for this?”
Rylan also took to Instagram to share a picture of himself and Eamonn ahead of their stint on the famous This Morning sofa.
It showed the pair playfully posing together. Rylan joked: “Bring your son to work day.”
Eamonn had previously thanked his Twitter followers for showing “kindness and compassion” towards Ruth as she came to terms with the loss.
