TV star Eamonn Holmes said his hips “are fully lubricated and ready to go”, as he revealed a member of the This Morning line-up will swap the sofa for the sequins on Strictly Come Dancing.
The broadcaster, who had a double hip operation last year, sparked speculation about which daytime TV star will be taking a turn around the dancefloor when he announced that the newest contestant will be revealed on the talk show.
He wrote on Twitter: “On this morning’s @thismorning we will be revealing who in the This Morning family will be part of this year’s @bbcstrictly ! Guess who ?”
Viewers were quick to speculate it could be his wife and co-host Ruth Langsford, with one replying: “Omfg! Please say it’s your lovely wife @RuthieeL,” and another writing: “Please be @RuthieeL she would be fab #winner.”
Others said they would love to see Langsford and Holmes compete alongside each other, while some viewers opted for showbiz correspondent and occasional host Rylan Clark-Neal.
Clark-Neal also teased the announcement on Twitter, writing: “Make sure you tune into @thismorning today,” adding a dancing girl emoji.
Hosting the morning show alongside Langsford, Holmes joked that he wanted viewers to guess it is him taking part, saying: “If you’re worried about the hips don’t, they are fully lubricated and ready to go.”
The Saturdays singer Mollie King and EastEnders actor Davood Ghadami have already been announced as the first competitors on Strictly.
The third is due to be announced on ITV’s This Morning at midday.
