EastEnders fans sent into a frenzy at the sudden mention of an old favourite

Well, there's no chance of a comeback...

EastEnders fans got themselves into a bit of a frenzy last night as a firm fan favourite was mentioned on screen, during a scene between Max Branning and Stacey Fowler.

While discussing Max’s current predicament, Stacey referenced her former husband and Max’s son, Bradley Branning, who tragically died in 2010.

Mad Max actually seemed to be getting a bit emotional as he told Stacey she is his only friend – and offered her money to help now she and Martin need to take time off work to care for their premature daughter.

Max has been showing little bubbles of the man he used to be, before he was destroyed by being sent to prison for Lucy Beale’s murder in 2015.

Stacey, who is oblivious to his current plot to take down Walford, reminded him of what a good person his son was.

She told Max: “Bradley never held a grudge, did he?” while a tearful Max nodded in agreement.

The fandom took to Twitter to express their joy at Bradders’ almost cameo and to reminisce on how much they missed him in the show.

One fan tweeted: “Literally tear up anytime someone ever mentions Bradley from EastEnders.”

Another said: “Just the mention of Bradley got to Max yana…But only Stacey coulda done that.”

A third added: “Stacey is talking about Bradley! I still miss him.”

Charlie Clements played Bradley from 2006-2010 and Enders fans loved his turbulent relationship with Stacey nee Slater.

The couple married twice, after splitting because of Stacey’s affair with dad, Max.

They reunited when Bradley helped Stacey come to terms with her bipolar diagnosis and also the fact she’d been raped by evil Archie Mitchell.

Stacey murdered Archie, but Bradley took the blame for her, shortly before plunging to his death from the roof of the Queen Vic following a police chase.

We never really got over that. Sob.
