EastEnders actor Jake Wood has revealed that Max Branning is set for another big storyline this year – and is even convinced his character can be redeemed after his turbulent year last year.
After being left penniless and alone following his revenge for being framed for Lucy Beale’s murder, Max’s life then took another tragic turn when his daughter Abi Branning died after falling from the roof of the Queen Vic.
But despite the fact most of Walford still hates Max, Jake Wood is convinced there is light at the end of the tunnel for his alter ego.

The actor told Gloucestershire Live: “I’ve always thought Max can be redeemed. I hope he finds some happiness and stability this year but knowing him, that might be unlikely.”
Jake also hinted that he is going to be busy again at at work this year with Max taking centre stage in a huge new storyline…
“He has a big story coming up this year which I’m very excited about as I think it’s something different. Watch this space.”
The actor told The Sun back in January: “I know Max is central to the plans for the next year, and we’ll see what happens.

“I think there’s always potential for that character. He’s a delight to play. I love playing him. I never know what he’s going to do next, so I am as excited as everyone else to see what he’s got planned.”
With plenty of making up to do with his friends, family and neighbours, we can’t wait to see what is next for Mr Branning.
EastEnders airs Monday and Friday at 8pm and Tuesday and Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One.
